Strasbourg Court accepts lawsuit against Russia in relation to Archil Tatunashvili’s murder

The Strasbourg Court has accepted a lawsuit against Russia in relation to the murder of Archil Tatunashvili. The suit was filed by Empathy – a rehabilitation center for victims of torture.

According to the head of the center, the lawsuit is attached by voluminous evidence confirming that Archil Tatunashvili was tortured in the Tskhinvali region.

“The evidence contains about 800 pages, including the 87-page report of forensic examination, which confirms that Archil Tatunashvili was tortured in Tskhinvali”, he said.

Archil Tatunashvili died in unclear circumstances in the Tskhinvali prison the day after being detained for “illegal border crossing” on February 22.
