EU Ambassador says it is important to create selection criteria that ensures fairness, transparency and credibility

According to EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell, it is important to create selection criteria that ensures fairness, transparency and credibility. The Ambassador made comments for the media after meeting with Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee.

“We had a discussion about the timeline and ambitions with regard to the fourth wave of judicial reform, which is among very important priorities. We also touched upon the issue of selection procedures for judges. We reiterated our position that this is a crucial process. It is important to create selection criteria that ensures fairness, transparency and credibility.

We will continue to be engaged in this process from the EU side, including by offering advises and proposals”, the Ambassador said.
