Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates Holy Annunciation Day today

The Georgian Orthodox Church is celebrating Holy Annunciation Day (Khareba) on April 7. InterPressNews was told by the Patriarchate of Georgia that His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia will deliver a divine liturgy at Khareba Church, located in the yard of St. Trinity Cathedral at 10:00am.

The Annunciation holiday depicts the primary annunciation that was made by Archangel Gabriel to Virgin Mary about the birth of Jesus Christ.

According to the Christian faith, while Virgin Mary was reading the Bible, Archangel Gabriel appeared and told her she would soon give birth to a son, who would be named Jesus. It was the annunciation not only for the Virgin Mary but for the whole of mankind.
