Irakli Kobakhidze: We will consider the legal recommendations of the Venice Commission; as for political recommendations, they will not be reflected in the draft law

We will consider the reflection of legal recommendations of the Venice Commission in the draft organic law; as for political recommendations, we will have a discussion about them too, but they will not be reflected in the organic law, - Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, stated at a press conference.

"As for the number of judges, the minimum number of judges is determined and accordingly, the relevant agencies, namely the Council and the Parliament, have to act in accordance with the Constitution. Of course, the number of judges should be filled up to 28, but this may not happen all at once, but the recommendation that the future parliament should make this decision is a political issue and it cannot be reflected in the draft law. We will talk about the reflection of the legal recommendations of the Venice Commission in the draft organic law, as for political recommendations, we will have a discussion about them too, but they will not be reflected in the organic law”, Kobakhidze said.

The Venice Commission has published a report on the bill drafted by the majority on common courts today.
