Georgian officers to be directly involved in investigation of crimes committed by Georgian citizens in France

In the near future, two Georgian officers will be directly involved in the investigation of crimes committed by Georgian citizens in France, - Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated at the press conference after meeting with his French counterpart Christophe Castaner.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the sides discussed the existing challenges at today's meeting. Special attention was paid to solving the problem of asylum seekers and the fight against organized crime.

"We discussed the challenges we have to address together. First of all, this is fight against organized crime. Secondly, this is the mechanisms of solving the problem of asylum seekers. As you know, visa-free travel is a big achievement and one of the most important tools for Georgia to move closer to the EU.

We have a very good base for combating organized crime. We have signed an agreement that will help us make this fight even more effective. In the near future, two Georgian officers will be directly involved in the investigation of crimes committed by Georgian citizens in France”, the Minister said.
