De-facto government closes crossing-points for ‘elections’

The de-facto regime of Tskhinvali occupied region has temporarily closed the crossing-points connecting with the rest of Georgia.

Akhalgori Municipality Gamgebeli (Governor) Nugzar Tinikashvili told InterPressNews, at this time traffic is paralyzed in the direction of occupied Tskhinvali, and pedestrians are also prohibited to move.

“Crossing-points were closed yesterday and they will presumably be open tomorrow morning. Those citizens, who have the passports of South Ossetia, have the right to vote in so-called “elections”. Apart from occupied Tskhinvali region, the “polling stations” are opened in so-called embassies in occupied Abkhazia, North Ossetia and Russia. These so-called “elections” ones again roughly violate the rights of internally displaced persons, who can not return to their own homes. This is a continuation of annexation and any so-called “election” or “referendum”, conducted under occupation, cannot be legal. In addition to this, it is reported that 31,000 voters are registered in the occupied region, which is far from reality and in fact the number of eligiblevot voters can be only one-third of this figure, "Nugzar Tinikashvili said.
