Russian deputy leading session of Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in the Parliament of Georgia

The session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy has been opened in the Parliament of Georgia. Up to 100 members of 25 delegations are visiting Tbilisi within the scope of the event.

The parliamentary opposition is protesting against the conduct of the Assembly.

The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, Sergei Gavrilov, a deputy of the Russian Duma from the Communist Party, is leading the session. The latter is accused of the violation of the Law of Georgia on the Occupied Territories by the opposition. However, the Russian deputy denies the allegation.

The Assembly will be closed on June 21.

Establishment of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy was initiated by the Parliament of Greece.
