Representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan will study the June 20-21 events within the frameworks of their visit to Georgia. Giorgi Melashvili, head of the European-Georgian Institute, told InterPressNews that representatives of the political party "Yabloko" have arrived from the Russian Federation.
According to him, the European-Georgian Institute and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation organize the program aiming to study the June 20-21 developments by the representatives of non-governmental organizations, liberal political parties, televisions and state agencies of these countries.
Participants of the program have already met representatives of Georgian political parties (Republican Party, Free Democrats, Girchi). Meetings with representatives of non governmental and governmental sectors are also planned.
Alexander Gnezdilov, Deputy Chairman of the "Yabloko" party, told InterPressNews that he understands the feelings of the people who are concerned over the arrival of MP Gavrilov in Georgia.
“The protest is fair, in my opinion, the decisions that the Russian government has received unilaterally since 2008, contribute neither the good neighborhood relationship of our countries nor regulation of the Sokhumi and Tskhinvali conflict. Therefore, I am very well aware of the feelings of the people who are concerned about the arrival of MP Gavrilov. When Gavrilov sat in the speaker's chair, this was certainly an improper move," Alexander Gnezdilov said.
Moreover, the representative of the "Yabloko" party did not rule out that Gavrilov's arrival in Georgia and his actions were provocations of certain forces in Russia.
Alexander Gnezdilov has also commented on the decision of Russian President Vladimer Putin about evacuation of the Russian tourists from Georgia and noted that it was a “flattering decision.” Gnezdilov explained that during the last 5 years, Putin has evacuated none of the Russian citizens from Donbas, where actual hostilities are taking place.
Deputy Chairman of the "Yabloko" party thinks that Putin’s decision is “mistake and will not benefit the Russian people.”
