Ex-intelligence Service chief appointed as Deputy Defense Minister

Former Head of the Georgian Intelligence Service, David Sujashvili, has been appointed as Deputy Defense Minister, the Ministry of Defense said on Thursday.

In 2013-2019, David Sujashvili served as the Head of the Georgian Intelligence Service and at the same time, was the Prime Minister's Chief Intelligence Adviser. In 2014-015, David Sujashvili was Secretary of the State Security and Crisis Management Council. In 2012-2013, he served as the Director of the Internal Affairs Ministry’s Information-Analytic Department.

David Sujashvili is a colonel.

Rati Bregadze has been appointed as another Deputy Defense Minister.
