Parliament approves new State Security Service chief

The Parliament of Georgia has today approved Grigol Liluashvili as a new Head of the State Security Service of Georgia.

85 lawmakers voted in favor of Grigol Liluashvili’s candidature, while 8 were against.

The position of the Head of the State Security Service has became vacant after Vakhtang Gomelauri was appointed as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

Grigol Liluashvili has served as the First Deputy of the State Security Service of Georgia since January, 2019.
