Zugdidi majoritarian MP not allowed to enter Parliament

Protesters did not allow Zugdidi majoritarian MP Merab Qvaraia to enter Parliament’s building today.

Merab Qvaraia, who is one of the lawmakers who voted against transition to fully proportional electoral system from 2020, failed to enter the building.

The protesters chanted: "Slave", "Rat" and “Bidzina’s small dog”.

MP Qvaraia left the territory with the help of police officers.

The protesters at the rally outside the parliament are protesting the ruling Georgian Dream party’s failure to pass promised constitutional amendment that would switch Georgia to fully proportional electoral system from 2020, instead of 2024. The protesters have blocked all the entrances of the Parliament’s building.
