Parliament Speaker returns opposition padlock removed from Parliament's gate

Archil Talakvadze, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, brought at the Bureau sitting the padlock and chain that was hung by the protesters at the Parliament gate yesterday.

As Talakvadze noted, he decided to the padlock to the representatives of the opposition party.

“Unfortunately, the parliamentary opposition leaders padlocked the Parliament gates. These are the people who have padlocked human rights, media, private property, state institutions and the idea of freedom for the country, and then, using the monopolized media, they interpreted this action and persuaded the society that it was the freedom and democracy.

Today, they were trying to do the same thing and to padlock the Parliament of Georgia, so I want to return them this broken chain and padlock, which expresses their approach, their values towards the citizens and the state. They should probably keep it to remember that they cannot padlock the citizens' rights, state property, media, institutions and parliament," Archil Talakvadze said.
