The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly has adopted a special statement regarding Vazha Gaprindashvili, the Georgian doctor who is in illegal detention in occupied Tskhinvali region.

"The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly calls for the immediate release of the well-known doctor, President of the Georgian Association of Orthopedists and Traumatologists Vazha Gaprindashvili, who was sentenced to two-month pretrial detention by the de facto authorities of Tskhinvali region on November 15," the statement says.

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly condemns the illegal detention of the doctor by the de facto authorities and calls for the removal of all allegations against him;

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly calls on the international community to use all necessary peaceful means to achieve the release of doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili from occupied Tskhinvali region;

The Assembly also reaffirms its full support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
