In its letter sent to InterPressNews, Facebook Administration tells about fake accounts in Georgia

Facebook Administration in Georgia continues to work on detecting so-called bots and trolls.

InterPressNews received a letter from the Facebook administration, replying to the news agency questions regarding removal of “fake accounts”.

According to the Facebook administration, they have been working on detection of so-called bots and trolls in Georgia since September, 2019. The process has not been finished and they are working with security researchers to identify similar operations again.

“We detected this activity in September, 2019, within the research of coordinated inauthentic behavior in the region. Our research was also based on open reports by a local NGO.

Our Facebook and Instagram teams look for negative actors and their actions on this platform. We are continuing to work with our partners and security researchers to find and identify such operations, " reads the letter sent by Facebook to InterPressNews.
