GYLA addresses State Inspector regarding video footage involving representatives of Public Defender and Penitentiary Service

The Georgian Young Lawyers' Association (GYLA) has addressed the State Inspector regarding the video footage involving the representatives of the Public Defender and the Penitentiary Service.

As GYLA Chairman Sulkhan Saladze told reporters, he asked the State Inspector to study the legality of the disclosure of the footage.

“We addressed the State Inspector yesterday, a little earlier than the Public Defender. We addressed not only with regard to the video footage involving the Public Defender's representative, but all of the footage that was released, including those involving the penitentiary staff. That is why we think that the dissemination of these footage violated the law and we ask the State Inspector to study the legality of the disclosure of the footage,” Saladze said.

According to him, one of the issues is identification of the representative of the Public Defender in these videos, as well as the identification of the employees of the penitentiary institution in the videos.
