Giorgi Gakharia: The government is taking serious steps to minimize the spread of the virus during elections

According to Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, the government is taking serious steps to minimize the spread of the virus during elections.

The Prime Minister made the above statement at the meeting with ambassadors in Lopota.

As Gakharia noted, the elections are a serious challenge in the context of the epidemic.

"In fact, there has not been a complete lockdown in Georgia. Although we limited mobility, we have not banned people from leaving home other than during the curfew from 9pm to 6am. That’s why we’re moving forward today. People need to get back to their social lives.

We all remember that this is an election year in Georgia, there will be elections in a few months, pre-election competition will start between the parties and meetings will be held with people, all of which is related to mobility. Elections are a pretty serious challenge in the context of the epidemic, as people have to go to polls and make their choices there.

We are taking very serious steps in this direction now so that there is no epidemiological threat and the spread of the virus is minimized during the elections and we will be able to achieve this," Gakharia said.
