Giorgi Gakharia thanks the partners for supporting the UN resolution on Georgia

This vote is a clear success of Georgian diplomacy, - wrote PM Giorgi Gakharia on his Twitter page in response to the resolution adopted by the UN.

The Head of Government thanked the partners for their support.

"Today our IDP resolution at UN General Assembly reiterating the right of return for all displaced persons & refugees was adopted with unprecedented international support of 84 countries & 54 co-sponsors. This vote is a clear success of Georgian diplomacy! Grateful to our partners for their support", - tweeted Gakharia.

For the record, on September 3, 2020, in New York, at the 74th session, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution submitted by Georgia and 54 countries on the status of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the number of countries supporting the resolution, as well as the number of co-sponsors, has increased this year to 84.
