Giorgi Arsoshvili, director of the Emergency Response Center (112) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, says that the inexpedient calls to 112 have not decreased and urges the citizens to make calls only when necessary.
"Despite the pandemic background and high number of referrals, the number of inexpedient calls to 112 has not decreased. Unfortunately, the number of inexpedient calls to 112 is 30% every day. I would like to call on the citizens once again to use 112 only when we need specific assistance", - Giorgi Arsoshvili said at a briefing at the government administration.
According to him, a number of measures have been taken to eliminate delays due to the increased number of calls to 112.
"Like all other units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 112, of course, is maximally mobilized during the pandemic so that all citizens receive appropriate assistance. 112 acquired special status during the pandemic. Therefore, the number of referrals has increased compared to the previous year. The number of referrals during the pandemic has increased by about 80%, which in itself has led to some delays, for which I would like to apologize to each citizen once again. I would like to point out that we have taken all measures to meet these expectations. I would like to tell you that the latest trend in 112 is quite positive, with a reduction of about 38% in referrals for both emergency medical calls and COVID consultations, as well as a decrease in average daily referrals by about 31%. The lowest number of calls in the last 6 months was recorded on December 20, with only about 10,000 calls. We hope that this trend will continue", - said the director of 112.
