Irakli Gharibashvili: We count not the chromosomes, but the work done for each other and the goals achieved together

Today, together with the whole world, we celebrate the International Down Syndrome Day with special feelings, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili writes on Facebook.

According to the head of the government, the Georgian government has taken a number of steps in the areas of health, education, social and employment policies to promote the full integration of citizens with Down Syndrome, to create conditions for self-realization.

"And yet, we still have a lot of work to do to raise public awareness, to overcome stigma and prejudice, and at the same time to strengthen the rights of our citizens with Down Syndrome to ensure that they are more involved in public life.

We are creating a society of equal people, where everyone, regardless of any differences, has an equal opportunity to participate in educational, creative, sports, business or public spheres; where everyone can work for the good of the country and live with dignity in the company of beloved ones. Where we count not the chromosomes, but the work done for each other and the goals achieved together," - says the Prime Minister.
