Nika Melia: If the opposition parties do not have coordination, all ten constituencies will be won by the Georgian Dream in Tbilisi

I have not decided, but if the broad opposition thinks that my contribution will be important during this election, of course, I will not refuse, - Nika Melia, the chairman of the United National Movement, said when answering a question about the Tbilisi mayoral candidacy.

According to Melia, if all opposition parties have their own rural and mayoral candidates, the climate will not be combative and Bidzina Ivanishvili will stay in power till 2024.

"There should be a high level of coordination, I am very surprised why everyone talks about the Tbilisi mayoral candidate. As far as I know, there will be 10 majoritarian constituencies in Tbilisi and not 25. If the opposition parties do not have coordination, all ten constituencies will be won by the Georgian Dream. If someone says there can be no coordination under someone's umbrella, this is a confrontational statement. Why one should want to be the third center, I want to be the first center," Nika Melia said.

As Melia points out, apart from the Tbilisi mayoral candidate, the opposition must agree on a joint candidate for the City Assembly Chairman.

"I have not decided yet, but if the broad spectrum of the opposition considers that my contribution will be significant to this election, I will certainly not refuse. If there was unity in at least 50% of constituencies, there would be an opposition coalition in power today. Talking about success without coordination is impossible. I will consult with all our partners and actors," Melia told the Main Channel.
