Nino Burjanadze: We are dealing either with ignorance or deliberate deception of people, because the opposition does not have the 76 votes needed for the dismissal of government

"It was an incredible picture in the Georgian parliament today - I think it is categorically unthinkable for a real oppositionist to remain in the parliament after these developments," Nino Burjanadze, the leader of United Georgia, told InterPressNews.

According to her, the opposition should correct the mistake of signing of the Charles Michel document and "the legalization of the illegal parliament."

"It was incredible what we saw in the parliament of Georgia. I do not remember such developments in the history of Georgia's independence, when incumbent MPs were simply not let in the hall - this is unbelievable and I want to tell you that on the one hand it is probably logical, because actually the opposition MPs do not have anything to do there.

Hopefully, at least now the vast majority of MPs, including those who signed the Charles Michel document, are convinced that there is no place for the opposition in the parliament today and this is not a parliament where the opposition can function normally. I think that after these developments, it should be categorically inconceivable for a real oppositionist to remain in the parliament.

To be honest, I was very surprised when I heard the statements that the mechanism of no confidence should be activated. This will continue for months and the government will use it to its advantage. Here we are dealing either with ignorance or with deliberate deception of people, because the opposition does not have the 76 votes needed for the dismissal procedure”, said Burjanadze.
