21-year-old Georgian judoka becomes champion of Tokyo Olympic Games

21-year-old Georgian judoka Lasha Bekauri (90 kg) became the champion of the Tokyo Olympic Games. In the final, Bekauri defeated 24-year-old German athlete.

Bekauri joined the tournament from the second round. In the first match, he defeated a Polish judoka, and then a representative of Israel. In the 1/4 final, he defeated Uzbek judoka Davlat Bobonov. In the semifinals, Bekauri defeated a representative of the Russian Olympic Committee, Mikhail Igolnikov.
