Telavi District Court has ordered pre-trial detention for the Olympic champion, former MP Zurab Zviadauri. Jaba Jangirashvili, accused of negligent possession of firearms, was also sent to pre-trial detention.

The detainee pleads no guilty.

Zurab Zviadauri is charged under Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (premeditated murder). He faces prison term from 8 to 15 years if convicted.

Zviadauri was arrested in connection with the murder of 3 people in Tsinandali on August 16, including the brother of one Olympic champion, Zviad Zviadauri.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained two people. Zurab Zviadauri is charged with premeditated murder of one person, while J.J., born in 1977, is charged with negligent possession of a firearm, which resulted in the loss of human life.

According to the information spread by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zurab Zviadauri shot dead the man who shot his brother and several other people.
