Irakli Kobakhidze: There were a lot of serious shortcomings in the June 20 special operation; as for injuring people, the main culprits are Nikanor Melia and the National Movement

There were a lot of serious shortcomings in the June 20 special operation. As for injuring people, the main culprits are Nikanor Melia and the National Movement, - Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, said regarding Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili's statement on June 20.

As Kobakhidze explained, they have many questions about the June 20 special operation.

"As for the special operation of June 20, there were very serious shortcomings. We have made many comments about it. Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili also spoke about it. There were a lot of very serious flaws – for example, why the special forces unit was standing outside the gate, why no water cannon was used and so on. All this led to the complication of the situation and the consequences that, unfortunately, we saw. We have questions in this regard," Kobakhidze said.

When asked about the Prime Minister's statement that on June 20, "innocent people lost eyes," Kobakhidze explained that the main culprits were Nikanor Melia and the National Movement.

"I can tell you that there were many shortcomings during the special operation. As for injuring people and so on, the main culprits are Nikanor Melia and the National Movement, which was storming the parliament building that day, "- said Kobakhidze.

Asked how he would assess the Prime Minister's statement that the opposition will move out of the parliament after October 2, Kobakhidze said that part of the opposition's behavior indicates that they might "take destructive steps after the election."

"There are expectations for that. This has its objective basis, including the behavior of part of the opposition, which shows that they will probably take destructive steps after this election. We will have our response to that”, said Kobakhidze.
