New regulation introduced for crossing of Georgian border for citizens of 8 countries relating to spread of new variant of coronavirus

In connection with the spread of the new variant of coronavirus, according to the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, regulations have been set for the crossing of the border for citizens of 8 countries.

According to the governmental administration, any person, regardless of nationality, who has a history of traveling to the following countries during the last 14 days, is subject to 14 days of isolation/quarantine in the quarantine space upon entering Georgia.

These countries are:

South Africa

Botswana

Zimbabwe

Namibia

Lesotho

Swaziland (Swaziland)

Mozambique

Malawi

Upon completion of 14 days of isolation/quarantine, individuals will undergo PCR testing.

In the case of Georgian citizens, the costs of the quarantine hotel and PCR test will be covered by the state, and in the case of foreign citizens - by the foreign citizen themselves.

The decision was made by the Coordination Council due to the detection of a new Omicron variant of coronavirus in these above-mentioned countries. The regulation will take effect on November 28.
