"It is unfortunate that our radical opposition is happy with the war in Ukraine and is seeing its own interests in all troubles," - Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at the governmental meeting.
According to him, the so-called marginal-destructive opposition tries to manipulate and exploit the noble feelings of citizens, and to mislead them.
As the Prime Minister noted, their goal is to repeat the disaster in Georgia, which could not be prevented in 2008.
"I want to explain to our population that in recent days, unfortunately, the so-called marginal-destructive opposition is trying to manipulate and exploit the noble feelings of citizens, and to mislead them. We, our government, do our utmost to express our maximum support to our Ukrainian sisters and brothers, politically, humanitarianly, humanely or otherwise. What is happening in Ukraine, of course, is well known to us. We experienced this much earlier, in 2008. It is unfortunate that our radical opposition is happy with the war in Ukraine and sees its own interest in all tragedy. It must be said directly that their goal is to repeat the tragedy that could not be avoided in 2008. We also remember well how the then government behaved, how it took care of us, how it protected our citizens, how the so-called commander-in-chief behaved. He showed the nation and the whole world his coward face. He has been remembered all over the world for eating ties. We remember this very well. We well remember who fought during the August war. Our heroic army fought and sacrificed their lives. Our policemen, worthy officers fought, but we well remember the fugitive commander-in-chief, other politicians, members of the government, they left the country during the war and returned to Georgia after the end of the war. I well remember the Security Council meeting on August 9 – how members of the government, led by Saakashvili, were joking when our heroes were dying on the battlefield. We all remember this very well and today the same people are urging us to get involved in the war, to impose sanctions on Russia, to take part in the war in Ukraine, etc.," Gharibashvili said.
