Beka Davituliani on Bibilov's statement: It seems that provocations against Georgia will intensify and we, unfortunately, have to expect many more provocations

It seems that provocations against Georgia will intensify and we, unfortunately, have to expect many more provocations, Beka Davituliani, a member of the parliamentary majority, told reporters, responding to the statement of the de facto president of the occupied Tskhinvali region, Anatoly Bibilov.

As he noted, Russia's reaction to Bibilov's statement will be a kind of message to Georgia. According to him, Georgia should respond to this with international leverage.

"This is not the first time that the so-called South Ossetia representatives make statements regarding the accession to Russia, we have to wait and see how Russia will react to this, this is already a message and Russia's position will be an additional message to Georgia. We must act in the best interests of our national interests with all the resources at our disposal, at the same time we should take into account the high security risks and act with the utmost care to bring the country out of this difficult situation created in the region, we should bring the country out of this situation as a winner, not further damaged. We must do everything for this and we hope that the political context created in the region will enable us to do so.

Bibilov's statement is illegal in itself, it has no legal basis, it is an occupied territory, it is a separatist regime, it has no legal basis and they can not take any real political steps. Russia's reaction to this step will be a message to us, certainly Bibilov's statement and this reaction of Russia will be followed by a response from our side with the opportunities that Georgia has today. Georgia today has the opportunity to respond to such steps with international leverage," Davituliani said.

For reference, according to Anatoly Bibilov, so-called president of occupied South Ossetia, the "republic" will be part of the historical homeland - Russia.

Bibilov's statement is posted on the official website of Russia’s ruling party.

According to the de facto president of the occupied region, "legal steps will be taken" to unite "South Ossetia" with Russia in the near future.
