Revenue Service: Any type of goods, both military and dual-use, as well as all products that are included in the sanctions list by the countries participating in the sanctions, are subject to strict customs control

The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance has issued a statement stating that any type of goods, both military and dual-use, as well as all products that are included in the sanctions list by the countries participating in the sanctions, are subject to strict customs control.

The Revenue Service calls on everyone, including representatives of non-governmental organizations, to refrain from spreading false information and notes that the agency will respond to each violation in accordance with the norms established by law.

"The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance informs that in connection with the current events in Ukraine, the United States, as well as the United Kingdom, the European Union and the countries involved in the process of imposing economic sanctions have decided to impose certain restrictions on trading certain goods with the Russian Federation and Belarus. Strict sanctions were also imposed on companies and individuals operating in Russia and Belarus.

With this in mind, the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance clarifies that any type of goods, both military and dual-use, as well as all products that are included in the sanctions list by the countries participating in the sanctions, are subject to strict customs control by all structural units of the Customs Department. At the same time, at the economic border of Georgia, the Customs Department controls any customs operations that may be carried out by sanctioned individuals or companies.

We also explain that re-export of sanctioned goods imported to Georgia from Russia and Belarus, as well as re-export of sanctioned goods from Georgia to the same countries (sanctioned individuals and companies are also controlled during re-export) are subject to customs control. Re-export of sanctioned goods imported from EU countries, USA, Great Britain and other countries participating in sanctions or with a certificate of origin of these countries, to Russia and Belarus or vice versa is subject to special control in order to prevent the possibility of circumventing sanctions using Georgia.

At the same time, it should be noted that the export of sanctioned goods imported to Georgia is strictly controlled, so that Russian or Belarusian goods do not occur in the countries participating in the sanctions or vice versa.

The Revenue Service reiterates that in the transit of goods through Georgia, customs controls on the movement of military and dual-use goods (as well as other sanctioned products) are particularly tightened. During the transit of cargo, attention is also paid to sanctioned individuals and companies.

The Ministry of Finance's Revenue Service calls on everyone, including representatives of non-governmental organizations, to refrain from spreading false information, and notes that the agency will respond to each violation in accordance with the law," the statement said.
