President of Kazakhstan: We do not recognize "South Ossetia", Abkhazia, or quasi-states - Donetsk and Luhansk

According to the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, his country does not recognize "South Ossetia", Abkhazia, or quasi-states - Donetsk and Luhansk.

"It is estimated that if the right of nations to self-determination is actually exercised in the world, there will be more than 500 or 600 states on earth instead of the 193 states that are currently members of the United Nations. Of course, there will be chaos. For this reason, we do not recognize Taiwan, Kosovo, “South Ossetia” or Abkhazia, and it seems that this principle will apply to the quasi-state territories, which, in our opinion, are Luhansk and Donetsk," Tokayev told a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to him, the UN charter is modern international law, but two principles of the UN: the integrity of the state and the right of nations to self-determination are in conflict with each other and therefore different interpretations arise.
