Shalva Papuashvili: If there are questions about the statements of our former colleagues, the US Ambassador has the opportunity to meet and talk to them - they are not members of Georgian Dream and we cannot be responsible for their position

If there are questions about the statements of our former colleagues, the US Ambassador has the opportunity to meet and talk to them - they are not members of Georgian Dream and we cannot be responsible for their position, Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, stated.

Papuashvili evaluated the US Ambassador Kelly Degnan's comment on the statements of the so-called four, according to which, there are questions from Washington, as to why the ruling party and the government do not distance themselves from their disinformation. As Papuashvili explains, he does not understand what Georgian Dream has to do with it, and if they have any questions, they should address them.

"I don't understand what Georgian Dream has with it. If there are some questions about the statements of our former colleagues, the Ambassador has the opportunity to meet freely and talk to them. They are not members of the Georgian Dream team, therefore we cannot be responsible for their position. If there is a question, it should be addressed to them, we are not the addressee," says Papuashvili.

According to US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, US officials are questioning the motives of those "who continue to repeat lies and conspiracy theories that are consistent with pro-Russian disinformation." As Degnan said in an interview with Mtavari TV, there are also questions as to why the ruling party and the government do not distance themselves from this disinformation.
