The issue regarding the election of the chairman of the party was raised, and yesterday this process formally began with the creation of a working group that should prepare the rules by which the chairman of the National Movement should be elected, Giorgi Baramidze, one of the leaders of the UNM, stated.
The working group consists of 7 members and Giorgi Baramidze will be the moderator. Members of the working group also include: Giorgi Botkoveli, Tornike Bikashvili, Nino Kvitaishvili, Bacho Dolidze, Levan Bezhashvili, Ivane Petriashvili.
"This group will have a very difficult job of create a rule that meets many issues and criteria. Among them, this criterion is that the elections, the voting procedure should be fair, transparent and understandable to everyone, that not someone else, especially the representative of this Georgian Dream regime or other interested parties, but the members and supporters of the National Movement should take part in these elections. There is also a great desire for our emigration to participate in this process, among whom are also many members and supporters of the National Movement. All this should happen so that no one doubts the fairness of this process. The result should be objective. For this, a group of people who take a neutral position and those who have a certain position was formed, and as a result of the work of this group, by November 22, hopefully, we will be able to develop this rule. Then there is great hope that this will be approved and discussed by the political council, and the campaign of candidates who will nominate themselves for the post of chairman of the National Movement will begin. It is in our interest that the elections be held quickly, but not hastily. We should all remember our main tasks - Mikheil Saakashvili is in the worst condition, he is in prison and he needs to be transferred for treatment and saved outside the country. Each of us should take this into account, as well as the issue of the release of Nika Gvaramia and other political prisoners - patriots of Georgia fighting against this regime. Of course, under the leadership and boldness of Saakashvili, our biggest task in the near future is to remove the pro-Putinist regime operating in Georgia from government peacefully, through elections. We, members of the National Movement, must act with this responsibility, we must remember that hundreds of thousands of our supporters, millions of patriotic Georgians are watching us, and we are being watched by the enemy of Georgia - Putin, Putinists and his representative in Georgia, Georgian Dream. We should not anger our supporters and we should not make our enemies laugh," said Baramidze.
According to him, it will be a friendly and open process in which the loser should not feel excluded and insulted.
According to the available information, three candidates put forward their candidacies for the chairmanship of the National Movement - Nika Melia, Giorgi Mumladze and Giorgi Chaladze.
