Police arrest man who allegedly set fire at Ambassador hotel

Law enforcement officers arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the fire in the Ambassador hotel.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man who was a guest in the hotel started a fire that spread to the third and fourth floors of the hotel.

"Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested A.L., born in 1995, on charges of damaging or destroying things by setting fire. The crime is punishable by 3 to 5 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that a guest in one of the rooms of the Ambassador hotel in Tbilisi started a fire that spread to the third and fourth floors of the hotel.

Upon receiving the notification, law enforcement officers and firemen arrived at the scene and started extinguishing the fire.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 187, Part 2, Sub-Clause A of the Criminal Law of Georgia, which pertains to the damage to or destruction of an object by setting fire," reads the information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
