Viola von Cramon on Lazare Grigoriadis case: It is unacceptable to single out his image in Parliament and openly insinuate that he and a specific group of people will undermine this protest

I am here to show solidarity with the person who was arrested, MEP Viola von Cramon told journalists at yesterday's rally in support of Lazare Grigoriadis near the government administration.

As MEP Cramon pointed out, it is unacceptable to single out his image in Parliament and openly insinuate that he and a specific group of people will undermine this protest.

"I am here like everyone else to show solidarity with the person who was arrested. I think that regardless of what he has done, it is unacceptable to single out his image in Parliament and to openly insinuate that he and a particular group of people will undermine this protest. I think it is important to say that all individuals have an equal right to protest this "foreign influence" bill. So, [I am here to] express our solidarity, to express solidarity to the citizens of Georgia, to the population, which is very supportive of pro-Western and pro-European positions. I think that's the reason why I'm here, it's very simple," von Cramon said.

For information, a rally in support of Lazare Grigoriadis was held near the Government Administration. The participants of the rally demanded the release of Grigoriadis and protested against his imprisonment. There were no speeches at the rally.

The films "Unpunished Crime" and "Georgian or Russian Dream" was shown on a specially installed screen.

Lazare Grigoriadis, who is accused of injuring police officers and destroying state property, was sentenced to prison on March 31 as a preventive measure.
