Bidzina Ivanishvili's representative, Temo Tsikvadze, has published a statement on Facebook attacking my client, George Bachiashvili. The claims made by Tsikvadze are brazenly untrue. Don't take my word for it - look into the complaint yourselves to see the loan agreement that completely contradicts the whole premise of this bogus case, writes Giorgi Bachiashvili's lawyer Robert Amsterdam.
"In more than 40 years of practice of international law, I cannot recall seeing another case brought forward on such non-existent substance - a fact which is further confirmed above. It's truly an embarrassment to Georgia. Now that Bidzina Ivanishvili is openly taking ownership of this charge, and now that his representative acknowledges that the case is fully driven by him and not based on any actual investigation, this absolutely underscores the political motivation behind it and Bidzina's determination to use the state to defame and tarnish the good reputation of my client, George Bachiashvili. These false accusations will not stand and we will fight to bring the truth out," Amsterdam tweeted.
For information, Bidzina Ivanishvili's lawyer released a statement today regarding the case of Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund. According to Teimuraz Tsikvadze, Ivanishvili's laywer, connecting the criminal prosecution against Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, to his political views is "a totally baseless accusation". Tsikvadze narrates the details of the criminal case against Bachiashvili on the social network. According to his explanation, the accused was a person close to Ivanishvili for many years and enjoyed his special trust. According to him, Bidzina Ivanishvili studied the issue related to bitcoin mining by Giorgi Bachiashvili only after questions arose regarding the "Mtkvari HPP" project under the leadership of the Co-Investment Fund and the integrity of Bachiashvili himself.
