If the USA cares about the port of Anaklia, it should express it through investment, Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, said in connection with the statement of the US State Department. With this, he answered the journalist's question about the statement that China may have a commercial interest in the port of Anaklia.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the attitude of the State Department is explained by the fact that America does not see its commercial interest in the Anaklia port project, because they have not invested in this project for years.
"In the strategic partnership with China, everything will be transparent. Of course, we will be in consultation mode with all partners. I don't know what the State Department's statement about the partnership with China hindering Georgia's European integration means. The main thing is that the strategic partnership with China will contribute to the realization of our state interests.
As for China's interests in the Anaklia port, which the US State Department mentions, if the US cares about the Anaklia port, it should express it through investment. I don't know what the reason is, but no investment has been made in Anaklia port so far. At the time, when this project was entrusted to Mamuka Khazaradze, he did not manage to attract any western investment. It is understandable that America may not see its commercial interest in the Anaklia port project. Care is manifested by investment. America has not taken any practical steps in this direction, which is a pity. Any investment would be very welcome for us," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
