According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, the visit of the High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrell to Georgia will definitely bring a new impetus to Georgia-EU relations. On the one hand, and on the other hand it will have a significant impact on the relevant decisions.
As Darchiashvili told journalists, within the framework of the visit, the Georgian authorities will provide Josep Borrell with detailed information on the implementation of the 12 recommendations.
"The visit has a special meaning - on the one hand, we will have the opportunity to talk in detail about the enormous work done in Georgia in terms of the implementation of the 12 recommendations by Georgia. I think there will be very interesting meetings at the highest level.
This visit is a special message that peace and security in our region is a high priority for the European Union. It is with these two dimensions that the main emphasis will be made. He will have meetings with all important state representatives. I think that this visit will definitely bring a new impetus to Georgia-EU relations on the one hand, and on the other hand it will have a significant impact on the relevant decisions," said Darchiashvili.
EU High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell has already arrived in Georgia. His plane landed at Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli Airport a few minutes ago.
Josep Borrell was met at the airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the European Union Vakhtang Makharoblishvili and Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Pawel Herczynski.
Today, at 19:30, Josep Borrell will hold a briefing at the office of the EU Delegation.
During the visit, the High Representative will be received by Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia. The HR/VP will also meet Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili. Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, a joint press conference will be held.
