David Usupashvili considers it fair to maintain the exclusive privilege of addressing from the parliamentary podium for Members of Parliament solely

"If the Parliament designates specific places and podiums within the premises, where individuals speaking from those locations are automatically considered as Members of Parliament, similar to those addressing from the main plenary session podium, then I believe such a regulation, if formulated and explained clearly and explicitly as you mentioned, would be appropriate, David Usupashvili, the Chairman of the parliamentary political group Lelo - Partnership for Georgia stated at the Plenary Session of the Parliament, where the attendees discussed the regulation on the manner of holding briefings and the use of parliamentary paraphernalia by unauthorized persons in the parliament building.

David Usupashvili noted that in most parliaments around the world, dedicated and specially equipped briefing areas are allocated for the exclusive use of parliament members. If the Parliament of Georgia follows this practice, it would indeed be appropriate.

"When it comes to the podium located in the parliament lobby, from which a Member of Parliament addresses journalists or the public, it doesn't imply that their assistant, a faction representative, or an expert who requires their presence cannot stand nearby, perhaps to respond to a question. However, concerning addressing from that platform, I believe it's appropriate for it to remain the exclusive privilege of the Member of Parliament. This allows all our other collaborators and supporters to establish their communication spaces, similar to this one, for their interactions when necessary", David Usupashvili remarked.

David Usupashvili’s remarks were disseminated by the Parliament’s press service.
