The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a clear statement and this is the response that was considered necessary at this stage, this is the position of the government - what was considered necessary, that is the response that was voiced, this is how the Chairman of Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the statement of the de facto president of occupied Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, that they signed an "agreement" with Russia and "there will be a permanent Russian naval base in Ochamchire".
As for the opposition's assessment that the mentioned events are an attempt to bring about the "second front", Kobakhidze says that "the state is doing everything to prevent the "second front" in Georgia, and all steps are being taken for this."
"We carefully monitor all processes, including the statements of the radical opposition here since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, as well as the statements of specific foreign politicians, the statements made in the office of the President of Georgia and in public, and therefore we have our own conclusions about who wants a "second front" in Georgia. Therefore, we talked about the "global war party", the radical opposition. It is the message of the radical opposition that it will come whenever it wants [Russia]. Why doesn't Russia enter? They want and can't enter? How is it? The opposition is jammed from start to finish. If they want, then whayt are they doing?" Kobakhidze said.
