A new international airport will be built in Tbilisi, which will be a world-class transportation center, this will strengthen Georgia's status as a prominent player in global aviation, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at the opening of the Silk Road Forum.
According to him, the government is improving the air connection.
"A new international airport will be built in Tbilisi, which will be a world-class transportation center, this will strengthen Georgia's status as a prominent player in global aviation. We acknowledge that major challenges exist due to the increasing demand for energy, as well as the ongoing global climate change. We are making efforts and investing resources in renewable energy, hydropower," the Prime Minister said.
In addition, the Prime Minister explained that Georgia has launched important infrastructural initiatives, including an ambitious railway modernization project.
"It is planned to be completed by the end of 2024. The capacity of the Georgian railway will definitely be doubled. Georgia will be a hub in the region, the government is really investing in the east-west highway, and the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line will be completed in 2024," Gharibashvili said.
As the Prime Minister explained, all transformational projects will create additional jobs and provide economic growth.
"Our goal is to attract investors to construct innovative power plants in order to use Georgia's green energy potential more. All these transformative projects will create additional jobs, provide economic growth, bring prosperity to our people and the region," the Prime Minister said.
