Irakli Kobakhidze: We will continue consultations with our European partners so that the European Endowment for Democracy does not finance extremism in Georgia

We will continue consultations with our European and American partners so that foreign sources do not finance extremism, polarization, and revolution in our country. The society, the Georgian people want peace and not extremism, polarization or revolution, - Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

According to him, one of the organizations that stands out as one of the main financiers of such movements is the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), which also finances a specific political party, which is prohibited by law.

As Irakli Kobakhidze mentioned, they had certain meetings behind closed doors, and these meetings also strengthen the belief that approaches will change both at the central and local levels.

"We have conversations about this with our partners. For example, one of the organizations that stands out as one of the main financiers of such movements is the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), and we will continue to consult with our European partners in order to prevent the financing of extremism in Georgia from this source.

Among them, EED also finances a specific political party, which is prohibited by law. We will continue to consult with our European and American partners in order to prevent the financing of extremism, polarization, and revolution in our country from foreign sources. We have also had some meetings behind closed doors and these meetings also give us confidence that approaches will probably change at all levels, both central and local levels. We have every reason to be optimistic that the financing of extremism from foreign sources will not continue in the country. At least the volume of this financing, which comes from foreign sources for the benefit of extremism in Georgia, will decrease qualitatively. Our society wants peace, the Georgian people want peace, not extremism, polarization or revolution", said Irakli Kobakhidze.
