According to Nikoloz Samkharadze, the member of the parliamentary majority, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament, with the involvement of the international partners, the issue will be raised that the person who killed a Georgian citizen near the occupation line be handed over to Georgia to be tried according to Georgian legislation.

As Samkharadze noted, "the political assessment of the mentioned issue is that it was killing".

"The issue will be that the person who committed the murder should be handed over to Georgia and tried in accordance with the Georgian legislation. This will be done through our international partners. Because we do not have any diplomatic relations with Russia, therefore this can only be done with the involvement of a mediator; with the involvement of the party through whose mediation the 2008 ceasefire agreement was signed. We have no other leverage and line in our relations with Russia. The only thing is the Geneva format and the meetings that are held on the occupation line together with the EU monitoring mission," said Samkharadze.

For information, according to the State Security Service of Georgia, a Georgian citizen was killed as a result of shooting by the Russian occupation forces near the village of Kirbali. According to the agency, the Russian occupation forces illegally detained another citizen of Georgia.

"On November 6, 2023, near the village of Kirbali, Gori municipality, in the occupied territory, during the attempt to illegally detain a local resident, a Georgian citizen died as a result of shooting by the Russian occupying forces, and another citizen was illegally detained.

Active communication is underway using all the tools available to the central government of Georgia," reads the information disseminated by the State Security Service.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation under Articles 109 and 143 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (referring to premeditated murder and illegal restriction of freedom) regarding the kidnapping of an individual and murder of a Georgian citizen near the Kirbali village, Gori municipality as a result of shooting from the side of the representative of the Russian occupation forces.
