The Bureau of the Parliament did not pass the Lelo draft resolution to introduce restrictions on Russian citizens and returned it to the initiators

The Bureau of the Parliament did not pass the Lelo draft resolution - "Georgia Protection Act" - and returned it to the initiators.

The Bureau made the decision to return the draft resolution to the initiators based on the negative conclusion of the budget office, which was presented by the head of the budget office, Andria Gvidiani.

As Gvidian stated, the expected financial impacts were not clearly defined in the draft resolution and it contradicted the principle of universality of the budgetary system.

The draft resolution prepared by Lelo deputies aimed to take the following steps: introducing visa restrictions on citizens of the Russian Federation; restricting the access of the citizens of the Russian Federation to the employment market of Georgia; prohibiting Russian citizens from buying Georgian land and other real estate; prohibiting the entry of vehicles with Russian license plates into Georgia; prohibiting Russian companies from participating in state tenders; imposing an occupation fee on Russian businesses; baning direct flights to Russia; banning the broadcasting of Russian propaganda television channels in Georgia and banning Russian foundations serving the Kremlin's occupation policy from operating in Georgia.
