Media: So-called ministry of foreign affairs of Abkhazia receives protest note from Russia’s foreign ministry regarding ratification of agreement on transfer of Bichvinta cottages to Russia

The so-called ministry of foreign affairs of occupied Abkhazia received a protest note from the ministry of foreign affairs of Russia regarding the ratification of the agreement on the transfer of Bichvinta cottages to Russia, journalist Izida Chania was quoted as saying by EchoKavkaza.

"According to unofficial information, three days ago, the ministry of foreign affairs of Abkhazia received a protest note from the ministry of foreign affairs of Russia. Amendments to the law (on ratification), which prohibits the transfer of state cottages to third parties, are not in someone’s interest. The ministry of foreign affairs hides this information. This information is not available either on the website or on Telegram," Izida Chania wrote on the social network.

According to the reports, the opposition forces of occupied Abkhazia also confirm the above.

"We have a note from the ministry of foreign affairs of Russia, in which the ministry of foreign affairs of Abkhazia is asked to decide its position, to confirm the adherence to the provisions of the agreement or the legislative acts adopted before its ratification. In connection with this, we demand that the ministry of foreign affairs of Abkhazia start its usual behind-the-scenes work and publish the mentioned note. Also, due to the lack of complete trust from the public, we demand that the Abkhaz side's response be agreed with the relevant committees of the parliament, with the involvement of interested public and political organizations. Otherwise, all the responsibility will fall personally on the president of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania and the minister of foreign affairs, Inal Ardzinba", reads the statement of the so-called opposition.

For information, on December 27, 2023, the so-called parliament of occupied Abkhazia ratified the agreement on the transfer of Bichvinta country houses to Russia. The agreement prohibits the transfer of various objects, plots of land and buildings to third parties.
