Working on the 9 steps defined by the European Union requires inclusiveness on the part of the government and a constructive approach on the part of the opposition, as well as the full involvement of the civil society, so that there is national unity in the issue of Georgia's progress on the path to EU membership, - said the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński.
According to him, he hopes that in parallel with the election campaign, the work on the 9 steps defined by the European Union will continue, so that Georgia can move to the next stage of joining the European Union - the beginning of the accession negotiations.
"We are working on the implementation of 9 steps. Next week, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze will attend a very important meeting in Brussels to discuss future ways. I hope that both the European Union and Georgia will agree on what needs to be done so that we can very quickly move to the next stage - the start of accession negotiations. This requires a very serious approach from Georgia, it requires serious reforms. I hope, despite the fact that the election campaign is slowly becoming the main issue, at the same time, the work on the implementation of the 9 steps will continue. The European Union and the EU delegation in Tbilisi are ready to provide assistance as we can, but the work must be done by Georgia itself, which, of course, requires inclusiveness on the part of the government and a constructive approach on the part of the opposition, as well as the full involvement of civil society, so that there is national unity on Georgia's path to EU membership. in the matter of progress", the ambassador noted.
