Vice Speaker of the Parliament urges transparency in LGBT draft law discussion amid oposition silence

Archil Talakvadze, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament, has called for transparency and open dialogue regarding the draft law concerning the LGBT community, expressing concern over the reluctance of opposition political groups to publicly share their opinions.

Talakvadze emphasized the importance of inclusive discussions and adherence to constitutional principles in formulating the draft law, stressing the need for all political groups to actively participate in the debate.

"When Mamuka Mdinaradze introduced this initiative, he provided comprehensive arguments and invited all political groups to engage in discussions. However, it is concerning that the opposition has been reticent in expressing their views, leaving many questions unanswered," Talakvadze remarked.

He underscored the significance of ensuring that the draft law aligns with the principles outlined in the Constitution of Georgia, particularly those enshrined in the second chapter.

"The formulation of this draft law must adhere to the fundamental principles of our constitution, guaranteeing equality and protection of rights for all citizens," Talakvadze noted.
