According to the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, during the meetings held within the framework of the visit of the parliamentary delegation to the Swiss confederation, they discussed the deepening of cooperation between the parliaments and the projects that Switzerland is implementing in Georgia.

According to him, at the meeting, they also talked about how Georgia copes with the challenges in the region.

"The delegation continues its meetings in the Swiss confederation. We had a meeting with the President of the State Council, the Chairman of the Upper Chamber, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the employees of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency. At the parliamentary level, we talked about the relationship between the parliaments, the relationship between friendship groups, as well as the issues that are important for both parliaments in terms of creating a legislative framework. We also talked about the challenges that exist in Georgia. We talked about how Georgia copes with the challenges in the region, especially in the last two years. Of course, we had a conversation with the Development and Cooperation Agency about the ongoing projects that Switzerland is implementing in Georgia. On our part, the desire and readiness was expressed that in the creative process, when it comes to getting closer to the standards, here we welcome expert involvement from the Swiss side, especially in the areas related to environmental protection, agriculture, professional development", said Papuashvili.

As he mentioned, Switzerland has been playing a big role in strengthening security in Georgia for years.

"For Switzerland, the role it plays in Georgia and, in principle, in the region as a whole, as a party involved in the process of negotiations with Russia, is of particular importance. You know that the Geneva format is the only format where there is an opportunity for Georgia to talk to Russia, including to raise the issues of de-occupation. Therefore, Switzerland takes its role seriously in this regard. I thanked them for the support they have been showing for years, and especially for the role that Switzerland provides in Georgia in terms of strengthening security. We also talked about the issues of intensive relations between the countries, in particular, the possibility of appointing direct flights, and in this regard, there is a political decision and negotiations are underway with one of the companies to have direct flights, which, of course, will make it more intensive and accessible for the citizens of both countries to visit the countries”, - Shalva Papuashvili said.
