Anri Okhanashvili: It is very sad when a judge is guided by the agenda of rich NGOs and radical opposition - when a judge fails the test of resilience, it means that he is vulnerable and there is a great risk

All candidates for the position of judge in the court of first and second instance, or in the Supreme Court, of course, before becoming a candidate, will be subject to evaluation by the criterion of good faith, - said Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.

According to him, individual judges, instead of being judges, present themselves as representatives of a specific NGO.

"As for the statements of individual judges that they are very brave and as if they are not afraid of some assessment, I think that the bullying and the pressure that the rich NGOs and radical opposition groups have exerted has worked - the individual judges could not withstand this pressure and they think that with this attitude they took some bold step when they came out and said that evaluation was not a problem. The judge must be characterized by resilience, these judges failed this test of resilience. It is very sad when a judge is guided by the agenda of rich NGOs and radical opposition and not by the right guaranteed by the constitution. When a judge fails this test of resilience, of course, this means that he is vulnerable and there is a great risk that he will not stand on the side of law and truth in a specific high-profile case or in another matter," Okhanashvili said.
