The Georgian delegation took part in the plenary session of the Conference of the European Affairs Committees of the National Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC)

The delegation of the Committee for the Integration of Georgia with Europe, led by Maka Bochorishvili, participated in the plenary session of the Conference of European Affairs Committees of the European Union National Parliaments (COSAC) held in Brussels. The European Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia disseminates the information.

According to their information, at the meeting, which was held within the framework of Belgium's EU presidency, the issues relevant to the EU, the strategic agenda, issues related to increasing the security and defense capability of the EU, the importance of democracy and the rule of law in Europe were discussed.

"During his speech, Maka Bochorishvili focused on the importance of the EU enlargement policy, on the progress achieved by Georgia in the process of European integration, and emphasized the need to immediately open negotiations with the candidate countries.

At the plenary session of the Conference of European Affairs Committees of the European Union National Parliaments (COSAC), a final document was adopted where the members of the national parliaments recommend the start of work for the opening of accession negotiations with Georgia, in accordance with the merit-based approach; They once again express their unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

The meeting of the European Affairs Committees, which is hosted by the EU-chairing country - Belgium, on March 24-26, was attended by the delegations of the European affairs committees of the parliaments of the 27 EU member states and candidate countries, the vice-speaker of the European Parliament, Ottmar Karas, European commissioners Didier Reinders, Nicolas Schmitt and Thierry Breton.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium Éliane Tillieux and the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Senate Gaëtan Van Goidsenhoven.
