The constitutional amendments prepared "against LGBT propaganda" have been initiated with the signature of the deputies of the ruling majority in the parliament. Two constitutional initiatives have been registered.
"Against LGBT propaganda" both a draft of amendments to the current constitution and a draft of the constitutional law entitled "On family values and protection of minors" have been submitted.
With the planned change in the Constitution itself, Article 30 of the Constitution, which concerns the rights of marriage, mothers and children, will be corrected. Taking into account the project, a new paragraph with the following content is added to the mentioned article: - "Protection of family values and minors is ensured by the constitutional law of Georgia, which is an integral part of the Constitution of Georgia".
As for the draft of the constitutional law "On Family Values and Protection of Minors", it consists of eight points and provides for the establishment of a number of prohibitions.
With the draft constitutional law, the ruling team plans to introduce the following restrictions and prohibitions:-
According to the legislation, only such a relationship similar to marriage can be regulated, which provides for the union of one genetic man and one genetic woman who are at least 18 years old.
Adoption or foster care of a minor is allowed only by spouses or heterosexual persons who are married in accordance with the Constitution and legislation of Georgia.
Any medical intervention related to changing a person's sex is prohibited.
The document issued by the state or local government indicates only the female or male gender that corresponds to his genetic data.
Any decision of a public authority or a private person that directly or indirectly restricts the use of gender-based concepts is invalid.
Gatherings aimed at promoting same-sex family or intimate relationships, incest, adoption or foster care of a minor by a same-sex couple or a non-heterosexual person, medical intervention related to gender reassignment, or the non-use of gender-specific concepts are prohibited.
It is prohibited to distribute a work, program or other material with such content, which is aimed at the promotion of same-sex family or intimate relationships, incest, adoption or foster care of a minor by a same-sex couple or a non-heterosexual person, medical intervention related to sex change or the non-use of gender-specific concepts.
It is prohibited to provide such information in the educational process of a public or private educational institution, which is aimed at promoting same-sex family or intimate relationships, incest, adoption or foster care of a minor by a same-sex couple or a non-heterosexual person, medical intervention related to sex change, or the non-use of gender-specific concepts.
In addition, as the leader of the parliamentary majority Mamuka Mdinaradze said at the press conference held today, based on the planned changes in the constitution and the draft constitutional law, in the near future, draft amendments to several laws will be initiated in the parliament.
