Shalva Papuashvili - If you are a foreign organization funding groups in Georgia involved in policy formation, please be as transparent as the public agencies in the country

"If you are a foreign organization financing groups in Georgia involved in policy formation, please be as transparent as the public agencies in Georgia," said the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili.

According to him, the financing of foreign organizations that support groups in Georgia involved in policy-making should be transparent.

"Turn the discussion into slogans and don't delve into the content - this is the easiest method from the 'KGB' manual. We are witnessing in real-time how an information storm is sweeping through Georgian society using methods akin to those of special services. Last year, everyone observed this change in Georgian society's mindset, and naturally, everyone is scrutinizing the content. The message is straightforward: if you are a foreign organization funding groups in Georgia involved in policy-making, please ensure transparency equivalent to that of public agencies in Georgia. There should not be a lower standard for foreign funding compared to Georgian budgetary organizations and the Georgian budget. We demand that foreign funding adhere to the same level of transparency as public institutions," said Shalva Papuashvili.
